Dr. Salma Informed on Situation in South Darfur State


Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Dr. Salma Abdul-Jabar Al-Mubarak, Wednesday received in the Republican Palace the acting Wali (governor) of South Darfur State, Hamid Mohamed Al-Tigani, and reviewed the situation in the state.

Dr. Salma affirmed the government pledge to provide support to South Darfur State and give concern to the state’s issues.

The acting Wali of South Darfur State said in a press statement that the meeting touched on the state’s urgent needs, top of which is expanding the umbrella of health services, concern with the displacement camps and encouraging voluntary the return.

He indicated that the meeting discussed the possibility of reducing poverty by the public institutions’ support for the vulnerable groups by providing microfinance, stressing his state’s concern with the youth and women segment, and the establishment of projects to employ the graduates and improving the conditions of the displaced women.
